Kevin Kern

Kevin Kern

Kevin is tasked with scaling the WaterSmart business and leads the team to drive customer engagement and improve operational efficiency for municipal and investor-owned water utilities globally. Kevin has more than 20 years of sales experience with high growth software companies and prior to WaterSmart Kevin served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Innotas, Inc. which he successfully sold to PlanView in 2016. Kevin joined Innotas from TIBCO Corporation where he served as Vice President of Sales for the Western US and Mexico. He is also credited for increasing the customer base more than 120 percent while building revenue and services growth more than 300 percent in Mexico. Prior to TIBCO, Kevin worked at Salesforce.com and Oracle Corp. in executive sales management roles. Kevin is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Political Science.

Chad Haynes

Chad Haynes is WaterSmart’s Software Architect. He is responsible for WaterSmart’s server architecture and web applications. Chad’s superpowers in data transformation and loading allow WaterSmart to work with any water utility worldwide. He is also an expert in creatively using JavaScript to visualize water data. Prior to WaterSmart, Chad was responsible for building an analytics cluster for a world-class investment management platform. He holds a BS from the University of North Carolina. When not attached to a computer, Chad can be found sailing the bay or playing the banjo.

Erik Andersen

Erik joined WaterSmart after five years of leading global sales at Remedy Interactive. With his team, Erik grew the company significantly, culminating in the sale of the company to Battery Ventures. Prior to Remedy Interactive, Erik had the opportunity to collaborate with many diverse and innovative companies around the world during 13 years of sales, strategy, supply chain, and alliances work at PeopleSoft, HP, and FedEx.  Erik earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Davis and his MBA from Vanderbilt University.  He loves to run and to check things off his Bucket List.

Ora Chaiken

Ora oversees the successful implementation and continuous operation of WaterSmart's utility partnerships. As the primary point of contact for utility clients, Ora ensures smooth day-to-day operations as well keeping an eye on overall program results for individual clients and across WaterSmart’s customer base. Prior to joining WaterSmart in 2011, Ora worked at Stagecast Software, managing the educational software company’s corporate website and working with potential customers. Ora earlier served as director of Client Relations at Softbank Expos (Ziff-Davis), specifying and delivering online presences for technology event producers. She held a similar position at Internet Media Services and started her career at Data General, providing sales support and analysis for the computer manufacturer. Ora holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from Cornell University and also studied at the London School of Economics. Having dipped her toes into the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans, she hopes to experience the Southern and Indian Oceans soon.

Ali Barsamian

Ali Barsamian

Ali has worked closely with the marketing, operations, and policy teams at WaterSmart to advocate for WaterSmart's customer engagement platform as a tool to address water affordability concerns and evolving customer expectations. She oversees all of the company's marketing activities and provides support to the entire team. Ali completed the Water Education Foundation's Water Leaders program in 2017. Prior to joining the WaterSmart team, Ali worked with the Town of Danville city planning department to manage zoning code enforcement and assisted with land use research for the Greenbelt Alliance. Ali received a B.S. in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning with a focus on Advanced Policy Analysis from the University of California, Davis. In her free time, Ali enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and rooting for her favorite team, the Golden State Warriors.

Senior Sales Director

Michelle Camp

Michelle Camp works to build partnerships between WaterSmart and Texas water utilities. As a native Texan, Michelle understands the difficult challenges facing Texas including increased water scarcity. Prior to joining WaterSmart, Michelle gained relevant experience in municipal and state water management at the Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Lower Colorado River Authority, and the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department. Michelle graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Environmental Science. She also holds a Masters in Environmental Management from Yale University with a specialization in water resource science and management. During her graduate studies at Yale, Michelle gained experience in sustainable water management in the Western US and abroad, which included spending time in Australia at the Murray–Darling Basin Authority. Michelle enjoys swimming in Barton Springs Pool, playing tennis, and eating Torchy’s Tacos.

Brandon Sherman

Brandon Sherman is tasked with partnering WaterSmart with utilities in the Western United States. As a native Californian, he understands the challenges around water consumption and the importance of conservation. Brandon has over 10 years of software delivery experience and enjoys helping people solve problems. Brandon graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Political Science. Outside of work he enjoys urban hikes, travel abroad and sports.

Lori Hammett

Lori is responsible for initial outreach to prospective water utility customers to help evaluate potential solution needs and establish prospective customer engagements for WaterSmart in the eastern region. She helps build general market awareness and passes on market intelligence to Sales and Marketing. Her background includes over 15 years of sales and customer relations experience in a wide array of industries including software, higher education, and a stint in the toy industry. Lori studied international business and art at Middle Tennessee State University earning a BA in Art History. In her spare time, Lori enjoys kayaking, checking out new restaurants, and attending music and art festivals.

Nick Trowbridge

Nick leads account management at WaterSmart Software. In coordination with Sales and Customer Success, he builds and grows meaningful relationships with all clients. Prior to joining WaterSmart, Nick worked for a management consulting firm where he specialized in public sector procurement. He oversaw strategic sourcing, ran department reorganizations, and won new firm business. Nick holds a B.S. in Environmental Economics and a Minor in Geography from UC Berkeley, where he won two swimming NCAA team national championships.

Dana Haasz

Dana is responsible for working with individual utility partners to ensure that the implementation process and the ongoing program are seamless and successful. Dana has almost 20 years experience in water conservation, utility program implementation, water resources and integrated planning, demand modeling, compliance assessment and policy. Prior to joining WaterSmart, Dana was the Water Use Efficiency Manager at Kennedy/Jenks consultants where she developed conservation plans and led other planning efforts for utility customers. As the Water Conservation Program Manager at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, she led the planning, development and implementation of all demand-related activities at the utility. Dana started her water career at the Pacific Institute and has represented environmental groups, utilities and the private sector on the Board of the California Urban Water Conservation Council. Dana holds a M.Sc. from New Mexico State and a B.Sc. from McGill University.

Lindsey Fransen

Lindsey Fransen

Lindsey is responsible for working with individual utility partners to ensure that the implementation process and ongoing program are seamless and successful. Lindsey's experience in the water sector began in graduate school, where she studied international water policy and interned with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). She spent several years working on water conservation with the CPUC before moving on to the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission to work on local adaptation to climate change. Lindsey joins WaterSmart after a sabbatical of sorts, during which she rode her bicycle across Asia and studied the impacts of climate change on water resources in the communities she biked through. Lindsey holds a BA in Earth & Environmental Sciences from Wesleyan University and an MS from the Energy & Resources Group at UC Berkeley. When not thinking about how to solve water resource problems, Lindsey can be found on her bike, in the mountains, or on the soccer field.

Jim Turner

Jim Turner has nearly two decades of experience working in both the public and private sector tackling important issues in environment, climate change, emergency management, information technology, and corporate social responsibility. As Customer Success Manager with WaterSmart, Jim assists utility partners in implementing and realizing value from the WaterSmart platform. Prior to WaterSmart, Jim was the Executive Director of the California Resiliency Alliance; a statewide non-profit organization focused on connecting government emergency management teams with private sector stakeholders to increase overall community disaster resilience and recovery capacity. Jim also served two years as Private Sector Liaison for the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management. Prior to his tenure in emergency management, he worked on developing software architecture training conferences and educational events for the financial investment industry. He is a recognized presenter, mediator, and facilitator, and has led cross-sector work groups to benefit Bay Area resilience and disadvantaged communities. Jim earned his MBA in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco’s Graduate School of Business, where he also worked as an Adjunct Professor teaching Business Communications. Jim is a native of New Orleans who has called San Francisco home for the past decade.

Scott Havis

Scott is responsible for working with individual utility partners to ensure that the implementation process and ongoing program are seamless and successful. Prior to joining WaterSmart, Scott spent 12 years with Green Mountain Energy Company, leading operations for various business units in both deregulated and regulated electricity markets. Prior to becoming Green Mountain's Solar Program Manager, he served as Utility Partnership Manager, driving the widespread adoption of renewable energy offerings for utility clients including the nation's top-ranked green power program, Portland General Electric. In addition, Scott was with Medtronic Physio-Control for 7 years as a Sales Consultant and Dun & Bradstreet for 2 years as a Business Analyst. Scott holds a BA in History from the University of Texas at Austin. His free time is filled with travel, hiking, reading and a zany sport called Pickleball (a cross between Tennis and Table Tennis, if you must know).

David works on the Customer Success team as WaterSmart's first customer support representative, delighting customer's with real time assistance. His goal is to set WaterSmart apart from the rest of the water utility players by providing world class customer service the likes of which the industry has never seen. Prior to joining WaterSmart, David gathered experience as a customer support rep and project manager within multiple startups. Hailing from the east coast where he grew up in Connecticut, David is an avid sports fan and exercise junky. He holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

William Holleran

Data Scientist

William Holleran

Will works directly with the data from all clients, providing updates on the effectiveness of each program on a variety of metrics including water savings and customer satisfaction. He also designs and implements experiments to evaluate improvements to the product. WaterSmart works directly with academics at leading research institutions, and Will manages those relationships to facilitate breakthroughs in how we understand the ways people/companies use water, and what levers are most effective in encouraging water conservation. Will is an econometrician at heart. He spent 4 years as an energy consultant, evaluating all types of energy efficiency programs. He specialized in behavioral modification, demand response and home energy audit program evaluations. He applies the skills learned from those evaluations to provide insight on how WaterSmart can improve the program and how best to design the internal M&V procedures. Will earned a B.S. in Economics and Math from Bucknell University and a MS in Applied Econometrics from UC Santa Cruz. Will enjoys running, climbing, backpacking, skiing, or most anything that gets him outdoors.

Jolene Hayes

Jolene works across WaterSmart’s software stack, working on new features, onboarding new customers, and working on operations support. Prior to WaterSmart, she developed several applications used in volunteer deployments including 4Bells and the inception of Shotgun.io. Her application, in use by several area non-profits, has been called “One of the 8 Apps that may actually change San Francisco” by TechSoup. In 2015, she completed the Hackbright Academy Computer Science Fellowship, one of the most competitive and difficult software fellowships in the U.S. She also holds a BS in Finance and MBA from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Joseph Sabido

Joseph is one of WaterSmart’s senior software engineers working across our stack. Before joining WaterSmart, he was head of IT for a pharmaceutical retail company, where he was also lead developer and project manager for their current integrated point of sale system; and senior software engineer for one of the largest financial consulting firms in San Francisco. Outside of work, he enjoys road trips, photography, and building IKEA furniture without looking at the instructions.

Yuhong Wang

Yuhong works on various parts of the WaterSmart product and infrastructure. For the past few years, she has served as part data scientist, part engineer at various startups, with extensive experience in many aspects of big data and all its chaotic surprises, from analytics and reporting to data pipelines and scaling reliability. In a previous life, she was a design engineer at Intel, creating nanometer scale high-speed serial IO products that interface the outside world with the fastest processors in consumer electronics. When she discovers spare time, she can be found nerding out about watersheds in pursuit of fly fishing or mentoring those who are starting out on their engineering journeys.

Matt Niarhakos

Matt is a member of WaterSmart's Data Engineering team, responsible for leading new and existing integrations and bringing new utilities onto the WaterSmart platform. Prior to WaterSmart, Matt spent 5 years with FATHOM, a utility billing managed services provider, managing both cloud and on-premises technical operations as well as integrating disparate systems. He brings this strong technical background to help create new, tighter integrations with your utility. Matt is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate. When not tied to his computer, he enjoys spending time with family, working on his PGA tour card, or re-watching any Star Wars or Marvel movie for the thousandth time.

Delos Elder

Delos is a member of WaterSmart's Data Engineering team, responsible for bringing new utilities onto the WaterSmart platform. Prior to WaterSmart, Delos was a sell-side equity research professional covering technology companies for global financial institutions. He made the switch to software engineering in order to build innovative companies and solve tough problems. At WaterSmart, he's able to do both. Delos earned a Masters in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a CFA charter holder and licensed CPA.

Luis Alba

As an engineer on the Data Services Team, Luis is responsible for automating data transfers from water utility companies to the mysterious cloud. Prior to WaterSmart, Luis attended UC Berkeley where he received his BA in Cognitive Science with an emphasis in Computational Modeling along with a minor in Computer Science. While attending college, Luis held various mentoring roles to help students of diverse backgrounds learn how to code. When away from the keyboard, he likes to attend music festivals and concerts, watch sports highlights, and try out new restaurants.

Tasnim spends her days at WaterSmart monitoring the data pipelines, investigating potential data quality issues, and working directly with our Customer Success team to troubleshoot inbound data requests. After completing her BS in Public Health from Rutgers University in 2016, Tasnim worked in New York City for 1.5 years in healthcare administration and discovered her love for all things data. In her free time, Tasnim loves to try new restaurants, go hiking and improve her photography skills.

Emmanuel Emordi

Emmanuel is responsible for WaterSmart’s accounting operations and has nearly 3 decades of experience including SOX compliance and financial reporting. Prior to WaterSmart, Emmanuel did consulting work with Cloudera Software where he managed the company’s investment portfolio and all cash related activities. Before Cloudera, he worked for Guidewire Software, a provider of software to the insurance industry, where he built the accounting department from ground up and helped lead the company from startup stage to a successful IPO. Emmanuel previously spent time as assistant controller with VA Software and, Postini an internet security software firm that was acquired by Google. Emmanuel early spent time with Hitachi Data System and LGI – Premium Fit. Emmanuel earned management accounting degrees from Dillard University and Loyola University. Emmanuel enjoys all types of sporting events, including, Soccer, Football, Basketball and Baseball.

Avril works to build partnerships between WaterSmart and water utilities across the country. Prior to joining watersmart, Avril spent time in remote areas in the Philippines with limited access to water. This ultimately inspired her to study Environmental Economy and Policy at UC Berkeley in hopes of helping bring clean drinkable water to anyone worldwide. If Avril is not at work, you can catch her exploring or traveling. Avril is afraid of being in deep water, but loves to swim with whale sharks!

Prior to joining WaterSmart, Andrew worked for a real estate investment trust and a property management start up in Oakland. TJ holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Adelphi University and is studying to obtain his MPA at Cal State East Bay. TJ grew up in the Boston area and enjoys playing soccer, spending time with his dog Lola, and following his favorite Boston sports teams.

As a Sales Development Representative, Alex is passionate about communicating WaterSmart's message of customer engagement and digital transformation for water utilities. While obtaining his BS in Business Administration from San Francisco State University, he studied a variety of classes from finance to social entrepreneurship to find the place where business success meets a social cause. After graduating with honors, he is happy to have found that place in WaterSmart, and is excited to bring this message to his customers. In his off time, he enjoys swimming, running, and occasionally surfing. He also is an avid world traveler, with his most recent trip taking him to Japan to help look after his sister's two young children. "O genki de!" (All the best!)

Matt studied Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning with a focus on water management at UC Davis where he was involved at the Center for Watershed Sciences and the University’s extensive Outdoor Adventures program. When Matt is not in the office, he enjoys rock climbing, fly fishing, and traveling.

Steve Westly

Prior to founding The Westly Group, Steve Westly served as the Controller and Chief Fiscal Officer of the state of California — the world’s eighth largest economy. As Controller, he chaired the State Lands Commission and served on 63 other boards and commissions, including CalPERS and CalSTRS, the nation’s two largest public pension funds, which together invest more than $350 billion. During his four-year term, Steve spearheaded innovative tax programs that helped close the State’s budget deficit and also led an effort to commit more than $1 billion to clean technology investments. In the 2008 election cycle Steve served as a California co-chair and a National Finance Committee member of the Obama for America campaign. He currently serves on the Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board as a representative for the venture capital industry. Before running for office, Steve helped guide the online auction company eBay through its period of most rapid growth, serving as the Senior Vice President of Marketing, Business Development, M&A and International. Steve helped bring eBay to Europe and Asia and developed the marketing and acquisition strategies that paved the path for the firm’s exponential growth. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, where he served on the faculty for five years. Steve and his wife, Anita, run the Westly Foundation, which provides education and health care services for children and underserved communities throughout California.

Henri is the founder of Apsara Capital LLP, an investment firm based in London focusing on water. He is an observer on the board of AquaSpy Inc., and was a seed investor in Valor Water (acquired by Xylem). Henri is a member of the UK Water Partnership’s Development & Implementation Group, and on the leadership board of Twenty65, an association bridging the innovation gap between cutting-edge academic research and the wider water industry. He is also the founder of ACT in Africa, a non-profit organization that provides entrepreneurship training to young Zimbabweans. Henri holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and International Relations from Brown University, a Master’s degree in International Legal Studies from Utrecht University in the Netherlands, a Postgraduate diploma in Law from BPP Law School in London, and was a non-practicing member of the British Bar from 2006 to 2011. Henri also holds a professional certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University.

Steve Bennet

Steve Bennet is founder and managing director of Bodega Partners and is an active participant in the Silicon Valley entrepreneurial ecosystem as start-up CFO, Angel Investor, and Professor. Steve has a passion for both entrepreneurship and education. He has taught entrepreneurial finance since 1995 and is currently adjunct faculty at San Jose State University. Previously, he was a lecturer at U.C. Berkeley. His focus is on experiential education and has developed new courses at SJSU, including the Entrepreneurship Lab (ELAB), Venture Lab (VLAB), and the Silicon Valley Experience. He is also on the Steering Committee for the Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship and UCLA Venture Capital Fund. Prior to and concurrent with Bodega, Steve was a Venture Partner at Outlook Ventures, Board Member of Sand Hill Angels, Partner at Menlo Incubator and held various financial and management positions at Bay Logics, Digital Microwave, and Arthur Andersen.

Veery Maxwell

Veery is the Director of Philanthropic Services for Energy Innovation, where she helps clients achieve their goals in climate and energy philanthropy. Veery earned a JD degree with honors from UC Hastings School of the Law where she focused on environmental issues. She was Managing Editor of West-Northwest, the Hastings environmental law and policy journal, and published a paper entitled, “Wind Energy Development: Can Wind Power Overcome Substantial Hurdles to Reach the Grid?” Veery received a B.A. degree magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a double major in finance and international business. She spent her junior year at the London School of Economics. While she attended Georgetown and Hastings, Veery worked for The Nature Conservancy, ClimateWorks Foundation, and the environmental law division of Union Pacific.

Peter Yolles

Peter leads WaterSmart’s new market development and also works in governmental and regulatory affairs activities. He has decades of experience in water conservation and efficiency, water rights and transfers, environmental regulation, finance, economics and policy. Prior to WaterSmart, Peter was Director of Water Resource Protection for The Nature Conservancy, where he led river restoration efforts throughout California. As Vice President at Western Water Company, he completed water transfer agreements with California agricultural water districts to conserve and lease water to municipal water districts. Early in his career, Peter also worked at GE Capital Solutions, Environmental Defense Fund, and the Pacific Institute. Peter earned his MBA in Finance from the Yale School of Management and an MES in Water Science, Management and Policy from Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Robert Hahn

Robert Hahn

Robert Hahn is professor and director of economics at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford; a senior fellow at the Institute for New Economic Thinking at Oxford; and a senior fellow at the Georgetown University Center for Business and Public Policy. Bob worked at the American Enterprise Institute for two decades. While there, he co-founded and directed the AEI-Brookings Joint Center for Regulatory Studies, a leader in policy research in law and economics, regulation, and antitrust. Previously, he worked for the U.S. President's Council of Economic Advisers and was the chief economist on the White House drafting team for the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. His responsibilities included helping to design the innovative market-based cap-and-trade system for limiting smokestack sulfur emissions. Bob also has served on the faculties of Harvard University and Carnegie Mellon University. He is a frequent contributor to leading scholarly journals including the American Economic Review, Science, and the Yale Law Journal, as well as to general-interest periodicals including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times.

Bob is currently conducting several behavioral economics experiments aimed at encouraging the conservation of water and energy resources, and improving education and health outcomes. He also continues to do research on Internet policy, environmental policy, and understanding the benefits of breakthrough innovations. He was recently appointed as a member of the U.S. Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking.

In addition, Bob is co-founder of the Community Preparatory School, an inner-city middle school in Providence, Rhode Island, that provides opportunities for disadvantaged youth to achieve their full potential.

William K. Reilly

William K. Reilly served as Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1989 to 1993 and currently serves as a Senior Advisor to TPG Capital, LP, an international investment partnership. He is based in San Francisco, CA.

Mr. Reilly was the Founding Partner of Aqua International Partners, an investment group that finances water improvements in developing countries. In May 2010, he was appointed by President Obama to co-chair the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling and in late 2012 to the President’s Council for Global Development. He currently serves as Chairman of the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University and as a director of the National Geographic Education Foundation. He is Co-chair of the Global Water Challenge.

Mr. Reilly previously served as the first Payne Visiting Professor at Stanford University. He is Chairman Emeritus of both the World Wildlife Fund and the ClimateWorks Foundation, and past President of The Conservation Foundation.

Mr. Reilly holds a B.A from Yale University, a J.D. from Harvard University and an M.S. in Urban Planning from Columbia University.

Susan Leal

Susan Leal is a water utility expert and author specializing in identifying realistic and creative solutions to the water-related challenges.

Currently, she is Principal and Founder of Urban Water Works a consultancy firm that Leal advises public and private sector clients on water, wastewater and energy issues related to climate change, resiliency and sustainability. She just concluded three years as the Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President for Water, the Americas at AECOM.

Previously, she concluded a two-year Senior Fellowship at Harvard University. As part of her fellowship, she co-authored Running Out of Water, a proactive book focused on solutions to our looming water crisis. She continues to serve as an Associate of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard and has recently agreed to co-author a book for Harvard University Press. She is a member of the advisory board of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley, where she also received her BA and JD.

As former General Manager of San Francisco’s Public Utilities Commission, Ms. Leal led the charge for a dramatic upgrade of the Bay Area’s water system and outdated wastewater system. She previously served two terms as the elected Treasurer of the City and County of San Francisco and as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Edmund Archuleta, P.E.

Edmund Archuleta served as General Manager for the El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board from January 1989 through January of 2013 where he has since been an advisor. He was responsible for all aspects of water and wastewater service to the Greater El Paso Metropolitan Area, a population of approximately 700,000 people. During his service as General Manager, El Paso Water Utilities was recognized in Texas, regionally, and nationally for innovations and leadership in water conservation, reclamation, and utility management.

Early career experience included working for two different engineering consulting firms as a project engineer. During that time he worked on feasibility assessments as well as on design of several systems for both the private and public sector. Ed also developed significant experience in assessing and designing systems for tannery wastes, meat packing plants, potato processing plants, steel mills, and power plants.



Mr. Archuleta, a registered Professional Engineer in Texas, New Mexico, and Iowa, earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University, as well as a Master of Management Degree from the University of New Mexico.

Dr. Lynn E. Broaddus

Lynn Broaddus founded Broadview Collaborative, Inc. in 2014 to bring a systems approach to the complexities at the intersection of water, energy, food, soil, buildings, and transportation, all in a context of resource sustainability, community resiliency, and social equity. As President, she oversees all aspects of the firm, with special focus on strategic directions and partnerships. She also serves as a nonresident fellow with the Metropolitan Policy Program of the Brookings Institution.

Prior to establishing Broadview, Dr. Broaddus led The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread’s environment program from 2008-2014, convening hundreds of national leaders to address looming challenges in U.S. freshwater management. This work covered a wide range of topics such as the connections among freshwater and climate change, infrastructure and built environment, agriculture, energy, finance and public health, resulting in more than a dozen publications on U.S. water management needs.

Dr. Broaddus also served for six years as executive director of Milwaukee Riverkeeper®, and for 12 years with The Nature Conservancy and a related organization, NatureServe. Earlier career experiences include energy conservation and teaching. She earned her Ph.D. in botany and genetics from Duke University, an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and her bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences from the University of Virginia.

Rob Steiner

Rob co-founded WaterSmart with Peter Yolles and currently acts as a strategic advisor to the company. He is the Managing Director for Summit Water Infrastructure Group at Summit Global Management, a leading water-specific investment firm based in San Diego. Prior to joining Summit, Rob was the Director of Water Investment Research at Aquillian Investments, a boutique investment advisory firm focusing on sustainability and based in San Francisco. Prior to entering the private sector, Rob was an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service and served within the Department of Health and Human Services. Rob holds a Masters in Public Health from George Washington University, with a concentration in Global Health Policy, and a BS from the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan.
